Dear High School Musical 2:
Hi, it's me again. I feel the need to recant part of that previous rant against you, because after I trashed Bet On It, I watched it again a couple of times (Sorry, Frito!) and now I may be completely obsessed with it. Everyone I talk to that saw the movie has agreed that it is beyond ridiculous and embarrassing - even the 9 year-olds, but I must admit that I love it to death now. Don't get me wrong, it is still one of the most completely ridiculous things I've ever witnessed, and I will continually feel bad for Zac Efron for having to do that, but somehow it has gone from "What the hell was that I just watched?" to "THIS IS THE GREATEST THING PUT TO FILM SINCE CITIZEN F*CKING KANE." And maybe I downloaded a few songs after watching the movie (What? They are CATCHY. Holla, What Time Is It?) but refused to download Bet On It because I was still horrified by all of it. But then I watched the video clip a few times and started to get the song stuck in my head. So not only was I enthralled by the spectacle of it all, but then to top it all off I started to like the song in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. Of course, then I downloaded the song, and a few days later got the ringtone. Oh my God, I got the ringtone, people. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME??
Help!
But it's just that it's...it's...here, watch the normal clip with the actual song in it. In addition to the angry pirouettes I talked about before, watch for the dramatic sand-throwing complete with jazz hands and the Zoolander "Who am I?" moment when he looks at his reflection (which is INSANELY bad) in the water. And, of course, the "I'm so angry I need to spin! And twirl! And jump! ANGRY!! TROY MAD!! SPIN!!"
All I know is that I will be learning that entire dance and performing it for my birthday in a few weeks. I already do the whole, "Whoa...hold up," thing in my car while I'm driving. Yesterday, Frito and I did it at the same time. We need help. After discussing some things yesterday, Frito said, "You do realize we're both around 30 years old and we are sitting here having an in-depth conversation about the High School Musical movies. What is wrong with us?" Help us!
