This week’s destination? The all new Rosie’s Lounge:
Now, we’ve been to this establishment previously when it was two other bars, and we hit it during the tour last season when it was Club Octane. Since we were the only people there for the bulk of the night that we visited last summer, we figured that Club Octane wouldn’t make it very long. Enter Rosie, who bought the place and opened it up about three weeks ago (and who is also pretty awesome). Since they have karaoke on Wednesdays and Thursdays, we decided to change our bar night this week to Wednesday to take advantage of the karaoke offering. And take advantage we did, but we’ll get to that.
But first, let’s talk about Rosie’s Lounge, because it was FAR too swanky for our tastes. For one thing, all of the tables had tablecloths and candles on them. Tablecloths = not a Bar Tuesday establishment. And then to add the candles? We even got unlimited free popcorn all night:
Swank! (Although I am happy to report that the toilet in the ladies room I still sporting the wooden plank on top of the toilet tank.) However, the new classiness of the place also meant higher prices for the drinks, which is not good news for our crew. We like our drinks strong and cheap. The ones at Rosie’s were neither. Here is Manda, lamenting the fact that her beer was $4.50 a bottle:
From what I hear, the mixed drinks were both pricey and on the weak side (that is, until Paul and Manda rallied against the weak drinks and ended up getting them stronger as the night went on), but still tasty for some:
(Maybe we’re just spoiled by Norma’s good pours, but all I know is that you can get 4 strong Captain & Cokes at Ye Olde Boulevard for $13. $13 for four mixed drinks!!) Of course, the prices still didn’t stop us from drinking up and having a good time. (And it’s totally a place we’ll go back to and hang out because it’s fun, it’s juts not divey enough for a Bar Tuesday night.) Also, on the plus side, this is the first bar we’ve been to where we got colored bendy straws in our drinks:
How can you not have fun with a bendy straw?
In other ‘how can you not have fun with this?’ news, Brent spent part of the night enjoying his present of a High School Musical 2 pen that plays the song Fabulous by his celebrity girlfriend, Ashley Tisdale:
Now, I’m not saying that I have the one that plays Bet On It, but you would be correct in guessing that I have two of them. I know.
Anyway, this week was also founding member Kristin’s last bar night, as she is moving to New Jersey this weekend. Aww, we’ll miss you, Kristin! Here she is with Paul, reveling in the fact that a patron just called them “talented” after their fantastic performance of My Humps:
The two of them made sure to tell their new fan about their Christmas shows before Kristin turned to Paul with glee and said, “No one has ever called us talented before. Wait until I tell my father.” Hee! And fear not, there is a video clip from their performance.
Before we get to that, here’s a few more pics from the night:
David finally sang in public for the first time this week! He only usually does karaoke at people’s houses, but we happily popped his public karaoke cherry this week. Next week he is bringing the Cher or we’re leaving.
Lucy also made a return appearance this week to rock the house. Yay!
Sober + DRUNK.
I like to call this one, “What is this person singing?” Paul seems to be defending the singer in question, but the rest of the folks aren’t having it. Love it.
So speaking of the singing, let’s get to the karaoke. Even thought there were a few large groups of people in the place, there weren’t that many singers among the groups, so we got to do a lot of songs. I didn’t get video from all of them, but I put together a montage of some clips from the Bar Tuesday Crew performances. Many of them are too dark to really see what’s going on, so I’m putting a list right below the video so you can follow along as to what/who you are hearing/singing. Enjoy:
vid
1) Me, Just A Girl
2) Paul, L-O-V-E
3) Brent, The Middle
4) Lucy, Down in Mississippi (And Up to No Good)
5) David, Chattahoochee
6) Me, Don’t Stop Believing (The unofficial Bar Tuesdays theme song)
7) Paul, doing Miley Cyrus’s See You Again. “My best friend Pam Rose says, ‘Oh, he’s just being Paulie.’” Classic.
8) Lucy, Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’
9) Brent, Hemorrhage
10) Paul, Umbrella
11) Me & Lucy, Wannabe (complete with awesomely added British accent by Lucy)
12) Kristin & Paul, My Humps
Next week we’re hitting another bar with karaoke, and hopefully there will be much better lighting for the videos. It’s also a bikery-looking bar whose MySpace name is “Gloriously Seedy,” which makes it even better. No tablecloths there, I’m sure. Still, as swanky as it was, we had a complete blast at Rosie’s. The other people there were fun, and Paul got drunk and danced with a woman who was at least 30 years older than him and groped her and then MOTORBOATED her. I am not even kidding. You can’t take him anywhere. So we’ll definitely go back to Rosie’s for some karaoke. But next up, dives galore. See you then!
(No photo shoot this week since Rosie’s is right around the corner from Saratoga, so we’ve already seen what’s fun outside the bar in that area. New photo shoot next week!)

...and here I was regretting the fact that I'd forgotten to show you my own "Bet On It" pen (a present from my sister) when you visited NY. I had it in my knapsack and everything! :-)
